Tino Coury’s ‘Diary’

For multi-instrumentalist Tino Coury, it all starts with the music. “When I write a song,” he says, “I want a beat you can dance to, a great track–but also a story. There has to be a heart to it.”

The serious buzz surrounding Coury began in May when his debut single “Diary” landed on over 50 Top 40 and Rhythmic stations in its first week of release, an achievement unrivaled in recent history by any new artist. Then came Coury’s striking debut video for the track directed by Roman White who has created videos for the biggest names in music today such as Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and Justin Bieber.

The Pittsburgh bred, 22-year-old singer-songwriter-producer has been earning fans all over the country by performing on national TV and at shows with Jason Derulo (at the sold-out The Fillmore New York at Irving Plaza), Drake, Train, Iyaz, New Boyz, Mike Posner, Kelly Rowland, Cartel, Kris Allen, and the Backstreet Boys, among others. Now based in Los Angeles, Tino plans to release additional singles in 2010 and a full-length album in 2011 via Eleventh Records.

Billboard magazine, in a review of “Diary,” took note of Coury’s mix of musicality and story-based lyrics: “Despite its themes of betrayal, dissatisfaction and letdown for its lead singer, the song’s sticking point is an irresistibly buoyant beat that should keep listeners tuned in and dancing.”

Get to know Tino face-to-face in a new video blog above where he recaps his summer tour and updates fans on his forthcoming debut album. Be sure to keep up with him on Twitter and Facebook for daily updates and exclusive content.

Maroon 5 Release New Single ‘Misery’

GRAMMY winning recording artist ‘Maroon 5‘ is back with their highly anticipated third studio album “Hands All Over“, set for release on September 21st. Produced by rock studio legend Robert John “Mutt” Lange (AC/DC, Def Leppard, The Cars), Hands All Over is a killer hybrid of rock, pop, funk and R&B. In addition, the album’s first single “Misery” will impact radio on June 28th.

Maroon 5 began writing the songs that appear on Hands All Over after winding down from a world tour in support of their 2007 studio release “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long.” Several months later, the band received a phone call from Lange, who had heard that the band were beginning to write a new album, and expressed an interest in producing it.

“We didn’t even talk to anyone else,” Adam Levine, Maroon 5’s frontman says. “Mutt is undeniably one of the most successful producers who’s ever lived.”

Jesse Carmichael, the band’s keyboardist, added, “Mutt really helped us play to the best of our ability. And it drove us to be bigger and better than ever.”

The result is Hands All Over, a monumental record chock full of buoyant, unforgettable melodies. Recorded at Lange’s Switzerland studio, the members of Maroon 5 locked themselves in the mountains to patiently craft their latest effort. Starting with the hard-rocking title track, the album’s 15 tracks take several intoxicating twists and turns including such compositions as “Out of Goodbyes,” a stunning country ballad infused with musical and vocal contributions from Nashville chart-toppers Lady Antebellum. Long-time fans will get a thrill out of “Misery,” with its funky guitars and high-stepping melody, as well as the propulsive “Stutter,” melody rich “Give A Little More” and “Don’t Know Much About That,” which professes a classic soulful vibe.

Following the release of the single, Maroon 5 has announced plans for a summer concert tour that will encompass nearly 30 dates by the end of the summer. The tour is set to kick off on July 30th and will feature a rotating group of special guests including Owl City, Guster, Kris Allen, VV Brown and Ry Cuming – Tour dates for Maroon 5’s 2010 concert tour can be seen on the band’s official site.

Head over to iTunes to grab “Misery” today and listen to the full track above.

Adam Lamber Versus ‘Out’ Magazine

adam-lambert-in-out-magazine

Adam Lambert is featured in this year’s “Out 100″ list in “Out” Magazine but there were apparently some rules about how he should represent himself. Reportedly, Lamberts reps insisted on limiting his questions, not wanting to make him seem “too gay” and the editior-in-chief of the magazine, Aaron Hicklin, was none to pleased and responded with an open letter to Lambert.

Per Out: “Although you narrowly lost to Kris Allen, you were the real winner for those of us who saw your success as a test of America’s growing tolerance. That’s why we’re proud to have you in this year’s Out 100, along with all the other men and women who don’t believe their sexuality should be a barrier to success. It’s unfortunate, therefore, that your record label and management don’t share the same view. We’re curious whether you know that we made cover offers for you before American Idol was even halfway through its run. Apparently, Out was too gay, even for you. There was the issue of what it would do to your record sales, we were told. Imagine! A gay musician on the cover of a gay magazine. What might the parents think! It’s only because this cover is a group shot that includes a straight woman that your team would allow you to be photographed at all — albeit with the caveat that we must avoid making you look “too gay.” (Is that a medical term? Just curious). Luckily, you seemed unaware that a similar caution was issued to our interviewer.

It’s odd, because this magazine has done covers with Pete Wentz and Lady Gaga — getting straight men and women to do Out is easy these days. It gives them cred. Getting gay stars like yourself is another matter. Much easier to stick you in Details, where your homosexuality can be neutralized by having you awkwardly grabbing a woman’s breast and saying, “Women are pretty.” So are kittens, Adam, but it doesn’t mean you have to make out with them.”

Meow, indeed! The author of the interview, Shana Naomi Krochmal, also posted a letter in which she responds to the thousands of comments the magazine got about Hicklin’s letter and the interview, in which she claims she was ushered out onto a balcony where she was cautioned by a publicist not to make the interview “too gay” or “you know, gay-gay.” Not one to sit back and stay quiet, Lambert had a simple Twitter response to the letter from the editor in chief of magazine: Chill.

Per Radar:

“Dear Aaron, it’s def not that deep. Chill! Guess ya gotta get attention for the magazine. U too are at the mercy of the marketing machine… Until we have a meaningful conversation, perhaps you should refrain from projecting your publications’ agenda onto my career.”

I wonder if his reps ok’ed his tweet beforehand? Something tells me we won’t see Lambert featured in the magazine again for quite some time, if ever. Adam is right on one account, the letter did draw attention to the magazine. Mission accomplished.

Adam Lambert Licks Nude Woman on Details Magazine- Photos

adam-lambert-details-magazine-2009-1

American Idol” runnerup Adam Lambert is the cover boy for the new issue of “Details” magazine, but it’s the racy photos inside that will have tongues wagging. In what could no doubtly be dubbed as his sexiest shoot ever, Lambert and a female model can be seen in various poses including ones where she is completely nude and parts of her just happen to be blocked by his very strategically placed hands. He and the model also appear to be kissing in a few of the pictures, which is a little out of the norm for a gay man featured in a gay magazine. But hey, it looks pretty hot to me! And if this is how you get people talking then who am I to question it!

Per Details:

“There was one woman in Jersey who was actually gorgeous,” says Lambert. “She had obviously had a couple of cocktails, and during an after–show meet–and–greet, she just slithered up next to me and started kissing my neck. I was cool with it. But then it started to get a little weird because she was, like, moaning. She gave me a note that said, ‘I want to make out with you, here’s my number,’ and I was like, wow, this is crazy. But again, it’s cool. Because yeah, I am gay, but I like kissing women sometimes. Women are pretty. It doesn’t mean I’m necessarily sleeping with them.”

Lambert goes on to say that female fans toss their bras and panties at him onstage, and admits that he saves as much of them as he can carry while stapling them underneath the stage in what he calls an ‘undergarment graveyard.’

Per Details:

“I think it’s weird that I’m having this effect on women. It’s flattering. I’ve never had underwear thrown at me before. Clearly there’s something significant about it, because there aren’t a lot of openly gay men in the entertainment industry.”

All through out the “American Idol” season I was drooling over Kris Allen, but who knew Adam could make me feel so tingly inside? Those are some hot pictures! Touching a woman seems more natural to him than it does to Tom Cruise. I’m just sayin’…

Adam Lambert Glam and Gay on Rolling Stone Cover

adam-lambert-rolling-stone-cover

After months of speculation, rumors and released photographs, there is finally an official confirmation: Adam Lambert is gay. The “American Idol” runner-up is coming out to “Rolling Stone” and saying that he is proud of it. Lambert says that his admission probably won’t come off as shocking to the many who have followed his rise to fame.

Per Rolling Stone:

“I don’t think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear that I’m gay,” Lambert says in the new issue of Rolling Stone, hitting newsstands this week. “I’m proud of my sexuality,” Lambert adds. “I embrace it. It’s just another part of me. I loved it this season when girls went crazy for me. As far as I’m concerned, it’s all hot. Just because I’m not sticking it in there doesn’t mean that I don’t find it beautiful,” he graphically says.

Lambert says that he was tempted immediately after the Idol finale to discuss his sexuality but he thought waiting to come out to the magazine would be much cooler, saying he didn’t want the “Clay Aiken thing” and the “celebrity-magazine bull” and wanted to be able to explain himself in context. As for the small scandal over photos of Lambert in drag that surfaced on the Internet back in March, he claims he forgot to remove photos from his profile on a social networking site for the “Burning Man Festival” in Nevada. Lambert says he was worried that people would think the drag ensemble was typical of him, admitting that he’s only dressed in drag three or four times and doesn’t “tuck and wear breasts.” Stereotypes about gays do annoy Lambert though.

“Clay Aiken’s gay, and I’m gay, and we couldn’t be more different. The only thing that is the same about everyone in the gay community is that we’re gay. … Why can’t we talk about a human community?”

Besides his sexuality, he goes on to share other details with the magazine. When he was 21, he was in a European tour of “Hair” for six months. That was when he decided to dye his hair black. In Germany, he admits to experimenting with drugs, smoking pot and trying ecstasy. But he does have limits, and cocaine is a big no-no saying that it is a reflection of the lack of self-esteem and control people have over themselves and their lives. Lambert even goes on to share his feelings toward sharing a living space with Idol winner Kris Allen.

“I was like, ‘Oh, s–t, they put me with the cute guy.’ Distracting!” he says when the show moved them in together. “He’s the one guy that I found attractive in the whole group on the show: nice, nonchalant, pretty and totally my type – except that he has a wife. I mean, he’s open-minded and liberal, but he’s definitely 100 percent straight.”

Hey… who wasn’t crushing on Kris??? I sure was!!

American Idol Controversy

It seems like every year on American Idol, the losing finalists fans try to find a way to start up some sort of controversy about why their favorite lost. This year apparently is no different.

The New York Times is reporting that AT&T may have “swayed” the voting during the finals of American Idol by hosting two hometown parties for fans of winner Kris Allen, during which they were showed how to send ten times the allowed number of text votes at a time. Since there appears to be no similar efforts to provide free texting services to supporters of Adam Lambert, his fans are calling foul on the whole situation and claiming irregularities in the competition’s voting.

Per NY Times:

“In Arkansas, we were invited to attend the local watch parties organized by the community. A few local employees brought a small number of demo phones with them and provided texting tutorials to those who were interested.” – Official statement from AT&T.

Per USA Today:

“FOX and the producers of American Idol are absolutely certain that the results of this competition are fair, accurate and verified. Kris Allen is, without a doubt, the American Idol. We have an independent third-party monitoring procedure in place to ensure the integrity of the voting process. In no way did any individuals unfairly influence the outcome of the competition.” – Official statement from FremantleMedia North America, 19 Entertainment and FOX Broadcasting Company

Also according to the NY Times, the show broadcasts an on-screen statement at the end of each episode warning that blocks of votes cast using “technical enhancements” that unfairly influence the outcome of voting can be thrown out. With almost 100 million votes cast in total, it seems doubtful to me that what AT&T did with a few little parties and a couple dozen phones could have had that much of an effect on the result. Glam-bert fans need to just sit down and knock off the whining and crying. This still probably didn’t have any impact on a vote that was reportedly not even close anyway. Your boy lost, suck it up and move on.

Being runner up might not be such a bad thing for Lambert anyways. He is reportedly considering a stint as the new frontman for Queen but he also wants to work on his own album. His dream scenario would be to do both!

Per AP News:

“How do you say no to being in Queen?” said Lambert. “I mean, that’s unbelievable. But at the same time, I do have my own thing to do right now, and that’s my goal. So if I could, I would try to do both. That’s the honest question. I would try to do both. I would love to perform with them anytime they wanted me to but I also have my record to do. So, we’ll see… My record will be kind of a rock-pop-electronic-dance thing. I don’t know how to describe it. I think it’s gonna take on a life of its own, as far as genre goes. There’s a way to take the glam rock of the ’70s and the classic rock of the ’70s and kind of modernize it. … I want it to be produced in a very very current, almost futuristic, way.”

Among the people he’d like to work with include Madonna, Lady GaGa, and Katy Perry. Something tells me 27-year-old California native Adam Lambert is here to stay for quite some time.

Kris Allen is Your New American Idol

Wow! What an upset! Adam Lambert may have surprised fans all season with his unique vocal capabilities and his dramatic flair but in the end it was the humble boy next door Kris Allen who came out on top! When the married college student from Conway, Arkansas first sang Leon Russell’s “A Song for You” in Louisville auditions, he seemed nothing more than another “Idol” hopeful. Now, he is your Season 8 American Idol!

Per OMG Yahoo:

“I’m sorry, I don’t even know what to feel right now. This is crazy,” said a stunned Allen. “I’m exhausted, and I’m shocked, I’m really shocked.”

Runner-up Adam Lambert had been considered the likely winner since almost the start of the season. His dramatic performances and huge vocal range consistently won the best critiques from the judges week after week while Kris lew under the radar for much of the season. After the results of the voting on Tuesday’s final performance episode were announced, with nearly 100 million votes being cast, Kris was left basically speechless. “Are you serious?” he asked host Ryan Seacrest. “Are you friggin’ serious?” Kris ended the night covered in confetti, singing what will be his first single called “No Boundaries” which was co-written by American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi. As Ryan Seacrest said in announcing the result: “The underdog, the dark horse, comes back and wins the nation over.” Ryan ended the show by reminding us that it’s less than eight months till next January, when this starts all over again.

Congratulations to Kris!!!

Kara DioGuardi Exposes Bikini Body on ‘Idol’ Stage

New ‘American Idol’ judge Kara DioGuardi has showed America this year that she is an average judge at best.  The song the finalists sang on Tuesday, written by DioGuardi, has been widely trashed across the internet as well.

RESULTS: Kris Allen Wins ‘American Idol’ Season 8

But almost every man and perv in American can agree after last night’s singing performance by DioGuardi, exposing her tight body in a black bikini, with Katrina ‘Bikini Girl’ Darrell, that she is in fact doing something very, very good.
