The Lovely Bones Trailer – Video

Peter Jackson, who brought “The Lord of the Rings” to life, has taken the book “The Lovely Bones” and turned it into a cinematic masterpiece. The book (written by Alice Sebold) was fantastic and the movie looks equally as brilliant. Yes, I have read a book outside the Harry Potter series.

The book centers around a teenage girl named Susie Salmon, who is raped and murdered by a creepy neighbor, George Harvey, who is obsessed with doll houses. Harvey is played by Stanley Tucci and by the trailer alone brings a level of scary perfect for the role. She disappears after taking a short cut home from school and only her hat and elbow are ever found. While her family copes with the loss of Susie, she watches from her personal heaven and narrates their life after her death.

It’s a bit on the grimmer side of movie and reading fare, but is equally as good. The film has been done for what seems like decades but doesn’t hit theaters until January 2010. Here’s hoping its worth the wait. Recently wed Mark Wahlberg and the gorgeous Rachel Weisz both star as Susie’s parents and sassy Susan Sarandon takes on the role of the doting grandmother.

UPDATE – Looks like it has been taken down already. ET still has a few sneaky peeks at it. Sorry kittens!

Love Guru Leads Razzie Nominations!

Oh Mike Myers, how far you fall! To be leading the pack for the worst of the worst is the funniest thing about the movie, if you ask me. According to the main site, The “Love Guru” recieved seven nominations, the highlights being worst movie, and worst acting for four people: Mike Myers, Jessica Alba, Verne Troyer and Ben Kingsley. Is anyone besides myself, thinking of the good old days when Myers was on “Saturday Night Live” or starring in Wayne’s World? *sigh*

As for other nominations, it shouldn’t be shocking that “The Happening” scored some nominations–worst movie and worst acting for Mark Wahlberg. I mean, how good can a movie be when the plants start to attack? I mean come on! M. Night Shyamalan, where has your talent gone? Did you spend it all on the “Sixth Sense“??

And as per usual form, the Razzies are going to be handed out the day before the Oscars, on February 21st. I have already started to pick out my dress, I think I can wear it to both ceremonies, no?
