A real Dame has flown to the great big accessories closet in the sky. Dame Elizabeth Taylor has died at the age of 79.

Taylor passed away early this morning after suffering congestive heart failure. On February 11th she was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for the heart problems. Her family was called to her side as those gorgeous violet eyes closed for the last time. Her rep confirmed the news to People.

“She was surrounded by her children – Michael Wilding, Christopher Wilding, Liza Todd and Maria Burton. Though she had recently suffered a number of complications, her condition had stabilized and it was hoped that she would be able to return home. Sadly, this was not to be.”

Taylor starred in over 50 films in her career and won two Oscars for her work in the films “Butterfield 8″ and “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” She had a total of 70 tv and movie titles attached to her resume, appeared solo on the cover of People 14 times (second to Princess Diana) and was the First actress to earn $1,000,000 for a movie role (Cleopatra).

She was known more so for her tumultuous private life that included eight marriages, to the likes of Conrad Hilton, Eddie Fisher and Richard Burton, and her many physical ailments that plagued her later in life.
