Breaking Dawn Will NOT Be Two Films

breaking-dawn

The Twilight Saga’s Breaking Dawn“: One movie or two? That is the question. While Deadline Hollywood is insistent that we will indeed get a fourth and fifth movie out of the last installment of the popular franchise, representatives for Summit are keeping mum.

Per MTV:

“No decision has been made,” a representative for Summit Entertainment told MTV News after the Deadline Hollywood story ran. “As we have said all along, we are continuing to work with Stephenie Meyer to bring ‘Breaking Dawn’ to the big screen.”

While Deadline Hollywood goes on to claim that both parts of “Breaking Dawn” will reportedly shoot back-to-back beginning in mid October, and producers are searching for “high end” directors. Industry insiders think the film may be split by having one movie telling Bella’s story and the other would be from Jacob’s point of view. Many sites have “announced” the same facts over the last few months, all apparently premature. Summit has neither confirmed nor denied either rumor, but don’t be surprised if an announcement isn’t made soon. Everyone from movie producers to the stars has been saying “Breaking Dawn” would probably become two movies. Apparently the holdup in announcing was that the actors had signed for only four installments, so everyone had to renegotiate for a fifth – and there has been no official word on if they have indeed signed on yet. This is not the only snag standing in the way. The book may be difficult to make into a movie, as it includes – SPOILER ALERT for the few who have not read the book – not only an actual sex scene but also a C-section that skips the scalpel in favor of Edward’s teeth. The sex and teenage pregnancy written in the book may also have to face some serious revisions to get the PG-13 rating it needs for its target audience.

So until we have an official statement from Summit, right now its all purely speculation.

Green River Ordinance – Hollywood Dame Exclusive Interview

Last week, we featured “Green River Ordinance” (GRO) and their video for their song “Come On.” (Read about that here.) Hailing from Fort Worth, TX and consisting of members Josh Jenkins, Geoff Ice, Denton Hunker, Josh Wilkerson, and Jamey Ice, GRO’s debut release for Virgin Records, “Out of My Hands,” was released in February and garnered them comparisons to Matchbox 20, Augustana, and The Fray. “Out of My Hands” peaked at #10 on the Billboard “Heatseekers” chart with their single “Come On” reaching #19 Billboard’s “Adult Top 40″ late in 2009. Several of their songs have been featured on shows like “So You Think You Can Dance” and “MTV’s The Hills.” Recently, GRO took a couple minutes to answer some questions about their music, families, and interests. You can find those answers below – Enjoy!

Have you always felt comfortable performing in front of a crowd, or did that take some getting used to?

I think it probably took some time for all of us to get used to. It’s pretty wild playing in front of even a couple hundred people. Lately we’ve been on tours where we are playing in front of a few thousand people and it’s been amazing!

What is the hardest part of traveling?

The hardest part about traveling as much as we do is probably the schedule. When you’re playing radio shows on the same day as shows or waking up to do Good Morning Memphis, you don’t get much sleep. We also drive ourselves so we end up driving a good portion of the drives at night.

How would you describe your music?

If Tom Petty and U2 had a man-child and it grew up in Texas during the 90’s

What does it feel like to be out somewhere and get recognized by your fans?

It’s pretty amazing feeling! We’ve had that happen a few times and it’s really humbling to think that people are out there listening to music that we wrote in a garage.

Who would you say your most influential musical influences have been and why?

Well we all listen to completely different types of music. Denton grew up listening to gospel and jazz, Josh grew up singing old country songs, etc. We do love those influential bands like Tom Petty and U2 though. We actually adopted Tom Petty’s saying “Don’t bore us; get to the chorus” when we were writing songs for our last record.

Besides music, what are some of your interests? What do you feel makes your band different from other bands in the genre?

We’re total nerds…Geoff and I like video games, Geoff reads tons of sci-fi books, and Josh is a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan. I think what might make us different is that we just have fun. We don’t take ourselves too seriously. We’re very hands on as far as business goes, but when we’re writing and playing we just have fun. Also, we love meeting new people. If we can ever do a meet-and-greet or have the opportunity to go over to the merchandise table after a show, we’re doin’ it.

What are your hopes as a band for the upcoming year?

We’re just hoping to continue touring like mad and play all over the place. If we’re lucky enough, we could tour overseas. That would be amazing!

What direction are you heading towards?

Where no man has ever been before

How does your newest album differ from the ones you released in the past?

For this album we actually had time to write and time to record. The previous albums have been very quick. We had 1 day to record 1 song in the past. That’s pretty hard to do and you rarely have time to experiment. That being the case, I think we’d all agree that this CD is more mature than some of the older songs.

Do you have any pre-gig or post-gig rituals?

Josh warms up with a yodeling vocal warm up that’s pretty funny to listen to. Other than that, we don’t really have a ritual yet. I’m hoping that in 2010 everyone hops on my idea to all play with our Tamagotchi’s for one hour before we play.

How supportive were your parents of your decision to want to become musicians?

Our parents have been insanely supportive of our band. When we told them that we were going to drop out of college and tour full-time, they said that they’d be behind us. I’m assuming that our experience with that conversation was pretty polar opposite from most of those conversations that occur. They said that they’d give us a year to get signed, which was our goal. It took us a year and a half or so, but they were behind us the whole time and they still are. Needless to say, we’ve got cool parents.

Special thanks to Green River for taking the time to chat with us.

Green River Ordinance’s Video For ‘Come On’

“Green River Ordinance” (GRO) is a 5-piece pop/rock band hailing from Fort Worth, TX. Their name refers to Green River Ordinances, laws which prohibit door-to-door sales unless the house’s owner gives permission to do so. GRO is not like other bands on the rise. Negativity isn’t their thing so you won’t find stories on them about trashing hotel rooms or being arrested for living a drug-crazed life. Shaped by frontman Josh Jenkins, along with bassist Geoff Ice, drummer Denton Hunker, and guitarists Josh Wilkerson and Jamey Ice, the band recorded its first EP in a church basement. They supported its release with a grassroots campaign, selling over 20,000 copies between their two independent releases, which led to shows alongside the likes of Bowling For Soup, Blue October, Simple Plan, and Mutemath. Their debut release for Virgin Records, “Out of My Hands,” was released in February and garnered them comparisons to Matchbox 20, Augustana, and The Fray. “Out of My Hands” peaked at #10 on the Billboard “Heatseekers” chart with their single “Come On” reaching #19 Billboard’s “Adult Top 40″ late in 2009. Several of their songs have been featured on shows like “So You Think You Can Dance” and “MTV’s The Hills.”

This song will shortly be added to my iPod and will be stuck on repeat for hours on end. Great song! You can watch their video “Come On” above, then head on over to iTunes to pick up their album.

Lil Mama Crashes Jay-Z’s and Alicia Keys’ MTV VMA’s Performance

The MTV VMA’s evening ceremony seemed to be full of unexpected stage invaders! Rapper Lil Mama, who is also a judge on the popular show “America’s Best Dance Crew,” decided to appear on stage unannounced and uninvited, during a performance by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys, at last night’s 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. Jay-Z just managed to keep his cool and carry on rapping despite looking surprised, trying subtly to get Lil Mama to take herself off his stage by tapping her on her leg, even throwing in a quick joke her way.

Per MTV:

“You T-Paining right now,” Jay-Z said, while Keys finished her chorus. The line refers to T-Pain jumping onstage with Jay-Z at Summer Jam during his “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)” performance.

Lil Mama would not budge, and stayed onstage throughout the entire performance. It was during his and Alicia’s performance of “Empire State of Mind,” that Lil Mama, just got up from her seat, got up onto the stage and started bobbing her head to the beat. When the song was over and it was time for Jay-Z and Alicia to take a pose, Lil Mama decided to join in. She stood beside them and was even seen to do a b-girl pose right next to them.

First Kanye then Lil Mama? Who the heck was in charge of security last night? The impromptu appearances are quite entertaining but rest assured security will be a little tighter next year.

MTV VMA’s 2009 Winners List, Photos and Videos

mtv-vma-2009-taylor-swift-2

After wasting over 2 hours of my life on the nuttery that was last night’s 2009 MTV VMA’s I bring you the highlights.

First Kanye West gave us all further proof he is a bumbling moron with no class. The “rapper” stormed the stage to take the mic away from Best Female video Winner Taylor Swift to announce that Beyonce should have won. From this moment on the show was tense and awkward. As did tried mentioned West’s name the crowd booed and began chanting Swift’s name.

The only one highlight in the show was the revealing of the extended “New Moon” trailer. It leaked to the net a few days before the show aired, but at least it was actually a decent trailer.

[MTV VMA New Moon Trailer – Video]

• Video of the Year: Beyonce Knowles – “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)”
• Best New Artist : Lady GaGa – “Poker Face”
• Best Male Video: T.I. – “Live Your Live” featuring Rihanna
• Best Female Video: Taylor Swift – “You Belong with Me”
• Best Hip-Hop Video: Eminem – “We Made You”
• Best Pop Video: Britney Spears – “Womanizer”
• Best Rock Video: Green Day – “21 Guns”
• Breakthrough Video: Matt and Kim – “Lessons Learned”
• Best Video (That Should Have Won a Moonman): Beastie Boys – “Sabotage”
• Best Direction: Marc Webb – Green Day’s “21 Guns”
• Best Editing: Jarrett Fijal – Beyonce Knowles’ “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)”
• Best Special Effects: Chimney Pot – Lady GaGa’s “Paparazzi”
• Best Choreography: Frank Gatson and JaQuel Knight – Beyonce Knowles’ “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)”
• Best Cinematography: Jonathan Sela – Green Day’s “21 Guns”
• Best Art Direction: Jason Hamilton – Lady GaGa’s “Paparazzi

Lady Gaga also killed herself on stage as if things were weird enough. The bloody mess followed the Swift/West debacle so it was a bit overshadowed, but odd non the less.

Madonna also gave a speech clearly read from a teleprompter in honor of Michael Jackson.

More to follow!

Exclusive: Jazmin Whitley from MTV’s ‘House of Jazmin’ Gives Us the Inside Scoop on Fashion and Fame

When I was 20 years old, I spent my free time doing what typical 20 year-olds do: looking for a classy fake ID. But times are changing. Today, getting a fake ID is as easy as catching a crotch-shot of Lindsay Lohan on a Tuesday.

So what do 20 year olds do nowadays? Well, if you’re Jazmin Whitley, you’re on the third year of managing your own clothing label (Li Cari), and starring in a new MTV reality show, “House of Jazmin,” that chronicles your life in the fashion industry along with all lives of those in your inner-circle.

I scored an interview with Jazmin, who happens to be the youngest designer ever to show at every major fashion week, and learned about what her life is like when the camera are on, what it’s like when they’re off, and what she plans to do next.

Naturally, I had to find out what attracted Jazmin to fashion in the first place, and it came as no surprise that this very family-oriented young lady gave credit to her grandmother:

“I would go shopping with my grandmother and loved clothes…when I was eight I began to sketch and created my first pieces when I was 13.”

By the ripe-old-age of 17, Jazmin launched her clothing line, Li Cari, with the support of her family, especially that of her mother who continues to be her business partner.

So how did this close family react to suddenly having cameras in their faces 24/7?

“Nothing really changed. We’re a close family…and my brother’s behavior likely would have been worse if there weren’t any cameras following him.”

In case you haven’t seen “House of Jazmin,” let’s just say that Jazmin’s brother enjoys being her brother…and intentionally missing the toilet bowl.

As I stated, Jazmin is the youngest designer ever to show at all major fashion weeks which she describes as, “…very stressful and emotional. You put all your hard work out there and want everything to be perfect.”
But like any art, fashion also has its fair share of critics. And when I asked Jazmin about those who have negative comments about her work, she responded like she has been in this business for years (wait, she has):

“Fashion is art so people will either love it or hate it…negative criticism is hurtful, but you need to stand behind your work.”

She also explained to me that she was very intimidated when she entered the world of fashion at such a young age.

“I feel I have to prove myself…that everyone is picking apart my work.”

Those picking apart her work, believe it or not, even include the models that she hires to show her clothing on the catwalk. Jazmin explained that it is difficult sometimes because she and the models are often close in age and they see her more as a peer than a boss. When that happens, cattiness ensues. Would someone please feed the models?

Yet that isn’t going to stop Jazmin Whitley anytime soon. She has big plans for herself and Li Cari.

“I want my label to grow…I want to branch out and do bags and sunglasses…I want stores in New York City.”

As for advice she has for other young people who may be second guessing their goals and dreams using the excuse that they are too young, Jazmin puts things into perspective:

“Work hard and set goals. Once you accomplish a goal, you have to set a new one and stay focused.”

Despite various reports that MTV cancelled “House of Jazmin, ” Jazmin assured me that the show was merely moved to primetime airing Saturday night at 8:00 PM on MTV.

Jazmin will also debut the 2010 Li Cari line in Los Angeles on October 16, 2009.

Oh what a week it has been in the Big Brother house! I’ve never seen such chaos in such a short period in Big Brother 11 much less the entire show’s history. If you don’t have the live Big Brother feeds then you may have missed some extremely shocking and drastically game changing events. I’ll catch you up with everything you need to know right here.

Over the last week we’ve seen fights, major backdooring, a contestant flipping their lid, and stealing of a mans rosary among other things. And actually, this is all since just Thursday! Lets begin a few days earlier, shall we? Chima, the self-proclaimed diva, won Head of Household and was determined to get out her arch nemesis Russell because she feels as though he hates women and has called her out on her lies throughout the game. Most likely, she just wants him gone because she can’t understand how his 20-something hot tail could reject her collagen injected lips. Russell is dealing with the fact that his supposed friends in the House just got him nominated, so he is sure his alliance with Chima, Natalie and Jesse is done. This proves to be an accurate assessment by Russell, being put up on the block against Lydia for eviction.

‘New Moon’ Nudity War

New MoonNudity… did anyone else’s heart just skip a beat? Actor Jamie Campbell Bower told MTV that New Moon will feature a scene unlike any other Twilight moment – three cast members will get completely naked. Nope, you didn’t read that wrong. I said completely naked!

Per MTV:

“We just all sit there, completely naked, for one scene,” revealed “New Moon” actor Jamie Campbell Bower, talking about a racy moment that was added into the upcoming film. “Yeah, it’s me, Michael Sheen and Christopher [Heyerdahl]; we just sit there, naked.”

Are you kidding me? Are you serious?? In the film, Bower plays Caius, an evil member of the Volturi vampire clan while Sheen plays their leader Aro and Heyerdahl plays Marcus. In the scene a fully clothed Dr. Carlisle, played by Peter Facinelli, visits the Volturi and stumbles upon the three in a bathhouse.

jamie-campbell-bower-nudity

Per MTV:

“It’s a full-body shot, and then Peter comes in, and it all gets a bit awkward,” Bower said. “[Carlisle] is clothed completely. They’re bathing in sort of a Roman bath kind of thing.”

Wait… what? I don’t remember this from the book. It sounds hot… but a little hard to believe! And apparently, with good reason! It just simply does not happen – in the book, or the movie! At least, according to director Chris Weitz, who seems a tad bit infuriated by Bowers’ statements and has released a statement debunking Bower’s claim of any such scene.

Per Twilight Source:

Dear all,

I would like to put everyone’s mind at rest and let them know that the Volturi are not naked! Jamie (Campbell-Bower) has what you might call a dry sense of humor and almost managed to convince me — which is why he’s such a good actor. Anyway, be assured that, even though we do want the look of the Volturi to be a bit of a surprise, they are always — as in the book! — fully clothed.

best,
Chris Weitz

Shame on you Jamie!! You broke one of the ten Twi-Commandments – Thou shall not give us false information/hope! Darn that dry British humor… But fear not, Twi-hards – There will still be plenty of male flesh on the screen in the form of Taylor Lautners’ Jacob taking off his shirt, and Robert Pattinsons’ Edward with his porcelain-white chiseled abs! Now that right there is better than naked Volturi anyday!
