Michael Sheen Cast as Aro Volturi in ‘New Moon’ – Photos

It was reported Sunday that British actor Michael Sheen has landed the role of Aro in the “Twilight” sequel, “New Moon”. Sheen, who is best known for his roles as Tony Blair in “The Queen” and David Frost in “Frost/Nixon” was eagerly pursued by “New Moon” director Chris Weitz.

Via The Daily Mail:

“Sheen, 40, who made his name with uncannily realistic portrayals of well-known figures in Oscar-winning films…will get his biggest pay [check] yet, a reported £5 million, to star in ‘New Moon’.”

This comes on the cusp of further “New Moon” casting updates. Read about the actors playing the Wolf Pack here and the actress chosen to play Emily (and photos from the “New Moon” set) by clicking here.

If you don’t know Sheen from his award winning movies, you may know him as Lucian, the Lycan (or as Twilighters would say, werewolf) in the “Underworld” films. It was while making “Underworld” that Sheen met, fell in love with, and knocked-up actress Kate Beckinsale. They had a short romance before she dropped Sheen for “Underworld” director Len Wiseman. The two have a daughter.

For those of you out there who aren’t British, £5 million is a little over $7 million US. “New Moon” stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson will each earn a reported $10 million. Though no information has been released regarding earnings for Taylor Lautner, whose role in “New Moon” is significantly greater than that of Sheen’s, we can assume it is less than $7 million.

What do you think Twilighters? Is Summit paying Sheen too much for such a small role? Or does he deserve the money due to his acting acclaim and notoriety?

Kristen Stewart Defends Reed Plus ‘New Moon’ Set Photos and Video

New Moon” set photos are running amok around the net (see more plus a poster HERE). I know all you Twilight happy and vampire obsessed can’t wait to get your Sparklepants fix, so here are some more set photos along with a video of a brief peek of Jacob Black’s house. Photos of Bella Swan’s truck complete with bikes have also surfaced. Currently the cast is filming in Canada and will be headed to Italy in May.

Meanwhile Kristen Stewart is facing a slew off negativity over recent interviews in which she came across as a “bitch” and simultaneously angered some of her fans. The “Twilight” starlet took to her alleged Twitter page to vent.

“dude I am a bitch & when you get asked the same question over & over every day it gets f**king tedious. (1:25pm(PST) – from web)”"

Early the same day she defended her co-star and friend, Nikki Reed.

“f**king stop with the nikki hate. you don’t know her so how can you judge her? how can you say things so awful if you don’t know her! (12:00pm (PST) – from web)”

Good to know she is fiercely protective of her friends. Yet…what do you expect when you are in one of the most popular flicks whose fan base is basically tweens?

Twilight Audition Drama!!

Over the weekend, Vancouver was taken over by a large amount of aboriginal Twihards, auditioning for roles in the upcoming “New Moon” movie. Apparently the turn-out was greater than expected and a vast majority were turned away, shortly after noon on the Saturday. According to Times Colonist, insults, and accusations ensued to those who barely made the cut.

Well, had that been me, I would have more than thrown insults! I would have taken one of those girls down!!! But sadly, I am neither 15-25 nor Aboriginal. Dare to dream, I say!

Apparently the reason why there were so many people at the audition is that it was advertising on Craigslist. And now that I am reading the posting, it is specific that the casting call is going on until noon, so those people who got all dramatic need to chill! And learn from this: sleep outside the building next time! You aren’t a true Twihard if you don’t to that!!

Filming for “New Moon” starts next month.

AnnaLynne McCord Joins “New Moon” Cast

Believe it or not, more “New Moon” casting speculation has leaked. This time, “90210’s” AnnaLynne McCord is rumored to be joining Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson in the “Twilight” sequel.

AnnaLynne, known mainly for making out with her sisters (see those pics here), is being considered for the part of Heidi, a Volturi vampire ‘fisher’ who brings unsuspecting humans to the Volturi for dinnertime. Heidi is, according to Meyer’s book, also the ‘bait’, using her stunning good looks to lure the humans to their demise.

E online reports:

“Sources say McCord has auditioned for the role. ‘It’s not a big part,’ one of the sources said. ‘Heidi would be more like a cameo.’”

AnnaLynne would likely feel right at home since she is also rumored to be dating “Twilight” co-star Kellen Lutz (Emmett Cullen in the books). The Dame first reported that romance weeks ago.

Unfortunately for AnnaLynne, if she does land the part, her scenes would likely be filmed on location in Italy while her rumored boyfriend, Lutz, would be left behind in Vancouver. Lutz already stated in an interview to Collider that he is not making the trip to Italy.

I personally am not a fan of AnnaLynne McCord’s. However, if the movie stays true to the story of “New Moon” she will only be in the movie for about 30 seconds. What are your thoughts on this possible casting decision?

Dakota Fanning Cast as Jane for ‘New Moon’

Calling all Twi-Hards! The latest rumor to come out of the “Twilight” movie baby-mama-drama is that soon-to-be 15 year-old actress Dakota Fanning is coming on board as Volturi vampire bad-ass Jane for “New Moon“.

A source reveled to E! Online:

“There were no auditions. They just offered it to her outright, and now they’re in negotiations. They’ve been going back and forth.”

Fanning is likely to take this role due to the fact that she already has ties to the studio behind the movie, Summit Entertainment. Summit was also the studio who produced Fanning in “Push” which is due out later this year.

Hopefully, the negotiations won’t end in Fanning sucking more out of the already small budget of $50 million. Considering the cost to make shape-shifting werewolves, a trip to Italy, and a yellow Porshe will take a fair chunk of that money (not to mention Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart raking in $10 million each), there won’t be much left to persuade more veteran (and therefore more expensive) actors to join the fun.

Twilighters took to the web in masses-some even starting online petitions-in favor of casting Fanning in the role of Jane. For those two or three of you not familiar with the character of Jane in the “Twilight” saga, she is a member of the Volturi (an old vampire sect who keeps the other immortals of the world in check) who has the ability to inflict great pain upon people without touching them. This reminds me so much of having to endure her screaming throughout “War of the Worlds“. Since Fanning already has practice inflicting pain using only her acting chops, she will likely do well in the role.

Note by The Dame:
She has always freaked me out. Yes, I admit I am scared of her. On my list of things that scare Cara she is a close third. Snakes, Bowling (rented two tone shoes are terrifying!) and Dakota Fanning.
