You wanted to root for the little guy, but his talent was just buried under nerves or perhaps simply not there yet. The boy clearly had no shot of actually winning, so patronizing him would only hurt him more in the end. The radio host just couldn’t handle the kid crying and repeated that being a judge was “just too rough” and exclaiming that he’s “not cut out for this.”
In the end, the kid went backstage and seemed consoled while Howard changed his vote to a “yes” and continued to feel terrible. Sharon and Howie wisely stuck to the guns and gave a resolute “no.”
