Gerard Butler Facing 6 Months in Jail for Paparazzi Beat-Down

Movie star hunk Gerard Butler has been charged with misdemeanor criminal battery over an incident involving a paparazzi-photographer last year. If convicted, he could be sentenced up to 6 months in jail. The incident occurred the night of October 7th, 2008 after a premiere party for “RockNRolla.” Allegedly, the photographer was trailing Gerard’s limo for hours, verbally harassing Butler whenever he got in and out of the limo, and even was chasing people through the streets.

Gerard’s manager Alan Siegel said the actor was forced to have his driver stop the car he was riding in after the particular photographer repeatedly sped through red lights and almost struck two pedestrians. Butler was said to have then punched him several times, bloodying the photographer’s lip. Police filed a report against the “300” actor over the scuffle. The Los Angeles City Attorney has already filed legal charge against him on Wednesday, May 13th, and Gerard is due in court for an arraignment on June 10th. His attorney, Blair Berk, has said that Butler is not required to, and won’t, appear in court on the matter.

I don’t blame him for punching someone who was following him! It would have been cool if he yelled “This… is… Sparta!” right before knocking the pap in the mouth!!

Paris Hilton and Doug Reinhardt in Miami Brawl

Paris Hilton and her boyfriend-of-the-month Doug Reinhardt were involved in a brawl with a bodyguard early Friday. In an interview with “RadarOnline“, the heiress said they were attacked at the LIV nightclub in the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach.

Per Radar:

“I can’t believe someone would do this to us, it’s really scary,” said Paris.

Hilton reportedly approached the DJ booth to request a song for her to dance to by either Madonna or Black Eyed Peas, instead of the techno music that was being played. The bodyguard there apparently thought Paris was a little too close to the DJ and shoved Paris, which prompted an angry Doug to tell the man not to touch his girlfriend. The bodyguard and Doug then began to brawl. Hotel security intervened and the fight was broken up, but not before Doug ended up with a bloody lip. Paris was not injured. Police were called to the scuffle, but no charges were filed. Soon afterwards, Paris and Doug left the club and planned to leave Miami as soon as possible.

Good idea, Paris. You can’t run every city you go to!

Amy Winehouse Charged With Assault

Just when you think she might have found the right path, Amy Winehouse has more trouble brewing on the horizon. Winehouse, who has just returned from a Caribbean vacation and moved into a suburban home, has been charged with assault after an alleged incident in September at the posh “End Of Summer Ball” in London’s Berkeley Square. If you recall, this was the incident in which Amy’s young god-daughter made her singing debut at this ball, and Amy showed up wasted out of her mind, embarrassing herself and her god-daughter. Dancer Sherene Flash had been quoted by tabloid newspapers as saying she was hit in the eye by the “Rehab” singer after asking to take her picture. This isn’t the first time the singer has been involved in a physical alteration, but it is the first time she has been charged. She went voluntarily to the police station, where she was arrested and charged. She’s been released and is due to appear in court on March 17th.

Winehouse’s battles with addiction and frequent run-ins with the law have been highly publicized. She was fined for illegally possessing marijuana in Norway in 2007, and her drug problems have been front page news in Britain, where she was pictured puffing on what appeared to be a crack pipe last year.

Amy also got a police warning in April of last year after scuffling with two men during a night out on the town in Camden, a young and raucous north London neighborhood known for its music scene and drug culture.

‘Harry Potter’ Actor’s Killer Found Guilty

A London jury has convicted Karl Bishop of killing teenage “Harry Potter” actor Rob Knox, who played Marcus Belby in the popular franchise movies. Prosecutors say Bishop killed Rob outside a bar in east London in May. Knox was stabbed five times, once fatally in a main artery, and died in the hospital later that night. All this could have been avoided and Bishop could have been arrested two months before in two missed chances by police. Armed with two kitchen knives and his face ‘screwed up with rage’, he stabbed Rob five times after Knox stepped in to protect his brother, who had been threatened by Bishop. Rob’s parents sobbed and were comforted by friends as the verdicts were delivered.

Per Telegraph:

“As a mother and parent I can never forgive the person responsible for taking my son Robert’s life, or the devastation that has been caused by these actions. You can never comprehend the loss or hurt caused by the death of a child, a child, which was wanted, carried for nine months and encouraged and supported through childhood to a young man. ” said Sally Knox, Robs mother.

“On May 24 2008 the lives of many people changed beyond belief. It was on that day my son, Robert Knox, was taken from this earth. His life was stolen, taken without permission. He was taken in the most cruel way possible.” said Collin Knox, Robs father.”

Bishop had reportedly sought the confrontation because he was furious that the actor had stood up to him a week earlier when he went to the bar aggressively demanding to know who had taken his phone and spoiling for a fight. Before leaving that night, he made a chilling prediction: ‘I’m going to come back next week and someone’s going to die.’ He did return as promised that night, but was denied entry and instead drunkenly harassed a teenage girl outside, trying to drag her off before ending up in the deadly confrontation with Rob and his friends.

Bishop was reported to police for an attempted knifepoint robbery two months earlier but detectives failed to arrest him. Two weeks later, the mother of the robbery victim also reported a burglary and named Bishop as the suspect, repeating the accusation that her son had been threatened with a knife. Scotland Yard admitted that it had been wrong in not arresting Bishop. The Met revealed that it had taken the issue so seriously that it had called in the Independent Police Complaints Commission to investigate. As a result, two police officers, a constable and a sergeant have all been given written warnings.

Five of their friends were also stabbed in the frightening ordeal, stabbing his victims at least ten times in less than two minutes. Bishop was also found guilty of wounding Rob’s friend Dean Saunders, 23. He was found not guilty of wounding another friend Tom Hopkins, 19.

So he’s found not guilty for his attack on one of his friends, and those officers who screwed up get nothing more than a written warning??? My prayers and condolences goes out to the entire Knox family. Thankfully, justice has been served.

Chris Brown Could Go Unpunished Due to Rihanna Beating Photo Leak

TMZ reportedly shelled out $62,500 for the photo of Rihanna’s bruised and beaten face. Police have been investigating the leak and have discovered a suspect according to reports. Insiders at TMZ have revealed that a “law enforcement insider” was paid the lump sum in exchange for the photo. (See the photos of the post Rihanna Beating HERE.)

Per Media Buffet:

“The source of the photo leak, a law enforcement insider close to the investigation, reportedly raked in $62.5k, double the salary of the person suspected of leaking the pic. Sources state TMZ pays a relative or friend of the snitch within 24 hours of receipt of a photo to cover their tracks. TMZ has been in the business of paying high dollar amounts for coveted pix.”

Also pointed out is the fact that the leaked photo will have more than just personal ramifications. According to sources LAPD is worried that the leak will effect the case being built against Chris Brown.

Via Media Buffet:

“Brown, even if guilty, could walk free because of the unauthorized release of this photo,” says and LAPD source. Insiders say LAPD brass is “furious, subpoenas [sic] have already gone out.”

By my research it is more likely to have an effect on the jury pool than the case itself. But with a good attorney you never know…
