Jessica Simpson Returns to Reality TV

Jessica Simpson is returning to do what she does best… Reality TV. VH1′s “The Price of Beauty” will take Simpson all over the world in search of what people find beautiful and why in all sorts of different cultures. Part of Jessicas’ job will be to study local fashions, dietary fads and beauty regimes of local women, even participating in some of the extreme practices she discovers. Simpson said she was immediately intrigued by the concept of doing a show about true beauty.

Per Us:

“I have always believed that beauty comes from within and confidence will always make a woman beautiful, but I know how much pressure some women put on themselves to look perfect,” she said in a statement Monday.

“I am really looking forward to discovering how beauty is perceived in different cultures and participating in some of the crazy things people do to feel beautiful,” she continued. “I know we will all learn a lot on this journey and I am so excited that VH1 is coming along on what I’m sure will be a wild ride.”

Wild ride indeed. This should be quite the learning adventure for the girl who once couldn’t distinguish between tuna and chicken. Simpson has come under fire from the media and magazines for her appearance lately, starting when she appeared onstage wearing unflattering high-waisted jeans back in January (read about that here.)

Shooting for the new series begins in mid-july, with a premiere date scheduled for early 2010. Jessica and her creepy father Joe will serve as executive producers. Hopefully this show will be a lot more successful than her previous one on MTV with ex husband Nick Lachey called “Newlyweds“. Either way, with Jessica Simpson involved it ought to be entertaining.

Jennifer Lopez Outdone by Jon and Kate Plus 8

Jennifer Lopez and Skeletor….er…Marc Anthony were after their own reality show regime for over a year. Since the birth of their twins, TLC and the Lopez clan have been trying to work a tv show deal. “Jon and Kate Plus 8” trumped her chances for a reality show centering around how the J.Lo machine works. TLC wanted the Max and Emme air time while Mama Jen refused to let them put her kids on tv.

After a several stories of Jon being a slutty and having an affair ran rampant through the net and tabloids, a whopping 9.8 million viewers tuned in on Monday night to see how things were going down. This was reportedly the final nail in the Jennifer Lopez reality show coffin.

Via TMZ:

“TLC sources tell us it’s pretty clear the J.Lo ain’t gonna sell tickets anymore, so they have shelved the show. As one TLC source put it, “It was on life support for awhile, and now we’ve just lost interest.”

Oooo I bet Lopez is still livid. I bet she has a Kate voodoo doll complete with reverse mullet and backs her Bently over it nightly.

Project Runway Returns!

Let choirs of angels rejoice! The fashion heavens have parted the sea of legal battles and a ray of sun hath risen “Project Runway.” Birds are singing in jubilation, children are parading in the streets singing of the return of Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum.

Bravo and Lifetime have been battling over reality hit, “Project Runway.” Finally, all regards to the fate of the show have been legally settled and will return to tv. People has confirmed the final season, which has already been shot with a finale filmed at New York Fashion Week last month, will make it air this summer.

Sadly, the show will not return to it’s original home. Lifetime won the rights and everything will move from New York to Los Angeles. The reigning judges panel will remain with Heidi Klum, Michael Kors and Nina Garcia. Tim will also be there to mentor and guide the rising designers. (Yay for me. I can stalk Tim Gunn better this way. Er…I mean worship from afar.)

The show has gathered a celebrity following. Last season we were treated to a few guest judges that ranged from L.L. Cool J to Natalie Portman. Jennifer Lopez was due to be a final judge, but backed out last minute because she stubbed her toe…had the trots or something ridiculous like that. Season 6 will feature Christina Aguilera, Eva Longoria Parker and Rebecca Romijn. (I am hoping Eva is also stricken with a wicked toe stubbing and will be forced to be replaced.)

Bravo is replacing their fashion reality jewel with another style challenging show. The creative title for the replace is called, “The Fashion Show.” This sounds like an disaster waiting to happen. Isaac Mizrahi, who owes me $39.95 for some bed sheets that lasted 2 months, is joining forces with Kelly Rowland. I can just picture Kelly trying to work it like Heidi and treated the eliminated guest to her rendition of ’N Sync’s “Bye, Bye, Bye” while Isaac dances in the background.
