Apparently ‘Jessie’s Girl’ couldn’t chase away all the demons for singer Rick Springfield.
On today’s episode of ‘Good Morning America,’ Springfield revealed that he battled depression and even attempted suicide at the age of 17.
“I made a noose and went out to the garden shed and put it — tied it around a rafter and stood on this [chair] … and kicked it away.”
Springfield fell to the floor unharmed and credits that experience with changing his life.
“I felt like I had a purpose. I felt like I was here for a reason.”
Springfield was on the morning program to promote his memoir, “Late, Late at Night.”
