Vanessa Carlton Confirms She Is Bisexual

Singer Vanessa Carlton has ‘outed’ herself as bisexual at a gay and lesbian festival in Nashville, Tennessee over the weekend. Previously linked to John Mayer and Third Eye Blind rocker Stephan Jenkins, Carlton made the announcement while headlining the Nashville Pride Festival at the city’s Riverfront Park on Sunday.

Per Huffington Post:

“I’ve never said this before, but I am a proud bisexual woman,” she announced to a crowd of 18,000.

Carlton is joining a group of musicians and celebrities have also recently revealed their sexual preferences. “True Blood” star Anna Paquin admitted last april she was bisexual in a public service announcement for the ‘True Colors Fund‘ (read about that here.) In March, Ricky Martin announced he was gay (read about that here) while Chely Wright became one of the first country music stars to come out as a lesbian in May (read about that here.)

Good for you. It’s awesome you feel comfortable enough in your own skin to reveal this. But if you really want to impress us, go write some good music.

In March 2010, Decca Records will release Nova’s genre-defying, debut album “Luna Nueva.” The album is an electrifying combination of irresistible Latin rhythms and potent pop smarts that showcase this vivacious artist’s considerable musical gifts (she plays piano, guitar, bass and more) as well as her rich Latina heritage.

Already a massive star in her native Costa Rica, Debi has toured with both Ricky Martin and Sergio Mendes as a featured vocalist and has performed for more than 8 million people globally. As a songwriter, the Costa Rican beauty has written hit songs for Belinda and RBD, two of Latin Americas biggest artists. Since the beginning of the year Debi’s been in the studio aiming to create a sound that blends all the influences and musical experiences she’s had. Combining her passion for Bossa Nova, Hip Hop and lots in between, a sound that Debi affectionately terms “Tropical Soul.” I had the chance to chat with Debi about her interests in music, her passion for surfing, and her plans for the future. You can read about it below.

When did you first realize you had an interest in music?

I think it was one of those things where there really wasn’t a specific moment, I’ve always known it was there. I began playing piano at age 4, so I’ve always been in front of it and had the ability of being exposed to music. Its just been really natural for me, never a question. When I became a teenager I was at that point to where I had to figure out music as a singer and if I wanted to pursue that part.

How did you break into the music industry?

I moved to LA about 7 years ago and just got really busy meeting writers and musicians and singing in local clubs. I kept myself busy. I met Sergio Mendes at an audition and toured some with him and things just took off from there.

You’ve worked with artists like Sean Paul, Black Eyed Peas, and Ricky Martin. Who are some other artists you’d love to work with?

Alot! Number one on my list has got to be Sting. I’ve always been a fan of his. I love him, love his song writing, love his bass playing, and would love to collaborate with him.

Ricky Martin Confirms Obvious Gayness

ricky-martin-comes-confirms-homosexuality-1

Ricky Martin may have accidentally come out to a Spanish mag. He has throngs of half nude women in most of his videos and has panties thrown on stage when he busts out his loca, but he confirmed his sexuality to Aqui magazine (via Metro) stating:

ricky-martin-comes-out-1

“[My] heart could belong to a woman or a man.”

Since he popped onto the scene with his wiggly hips and perfectly highlighted hair, we have all questioned his sexual preference. Personally I think it’s great to come out. Gay, straight or Clay Aiken just be who you are.

So I am sending a nice fruit basket in congratulatory celebration.

Ricky Martin Twin Boys – Photos

Ricky Martin’s 4 month old twin boys scored the cover of People magazine. Not sure how. I am guessing everyone on the A and B list were busy. His photo barely made the top right sidebar, but still…he is on the cover. Ricky, Valetino and Matteo are front and center on People Espanol. Take that Emilio Esteves!

His adventures in daddy-hood started with a surrogate momma needing some scratch. Bam! 9 months later you have a virginal birth. (Not really. I love “House” though. But you do get a turkey baster baby!)

How hands-on are you as a father?
I don’t have a nanny. I’m doing this on my own because I don’t want to miss a moment. I have a personal assistant who helps me, someone who takes care of me while I’m taking care of them, but I’m the one who changes the diapers, the one that feeds them, the one that bathes them, the one that puts them to sleep. For any parent, the first couple of months tend to get a little bit intense.

Why did you choose to become a parent via surrogate?
Adoption was one option, but it’s complicated and can take a long time. Surrogacy was an intriguing and faster option. I thought, ‘I’m going to jump into this with no fear.’

Tell us about Valetino’s and Matteo’s personalities.
Valentino loves to sleep. I call him ‘Mr. Peace and Love’ because he’s so chill and serene. Matteo is more alert and active. He was up at 3 a.m. the other night and just hanging!

What is your philosophy on raising your sons?
I love to read books to my sons and tell them stories. I play music for them so they develop their own personalities. I want to give them information and raise them with honesty and love, and give them self-esteem and a lot of acceptance.

Those poor kids. Subject to his interpretation of Dora’s Chirstmas sing along.
