Billy Joel ‘Live at Shea Stadium’ CD/DVD GIVEAWAY!!

Film of Singer’s Historic 2008 Concerts Closing America’s Cradle of Stadium Rock Includes Performances By Guest Artists Paul McCartney, Tony Bennett, Garth Brooks and John Mayer + DVD/Blu-ray Featuring Bonus Duets with Steven Tyler, Roger Daltrey and John Mellencamp.

Arrives in stores today – March 8th, 2011.

On Tuesday, March 8, Columbia/Legacy will release, for the very first time, ‘Billy Joel – Live at Shea Stadium,’ a full-length music film of Billy Joel’s historic shows in July 2008 marking the last-ever concerts at rock’s first great arena venue.

Billy Joel – Live At Shea Stadium will be available in a 2 CD/1 DVD set as well as a stand-alone DVD and stand-alone Blu-ray.

The full-concert companion to the acclaimed Lionsgate documentary “The Last Play At Shea,” Billy Joel Live At Shea Stadium features more than two hours of Billy and his band offering definitive, and often transcendent versions of hits, rarities, deep catalog, personal favorites and crowd-pleasing surprises including duets with guest artists Paul McCartney (“I Saw Her Standing There,” “Let It Be”), Tony Bennett (“New York State of Mind”), Garth Brooks (“Shameless”) and John Mayer (“This Is The Time”) along with exclusive DVD/Blu-ray bonus performances with Steven Tyler (“Walk This Way”), Roger Daltrey (“My Generation”) and John Mellencamp (“Pink Houses”).

Built in 1964, Shea Stadium was the home of the New York Mets for 45 years. Designed as a multi-purpose stadium, Shea became the birthplace of arena rock when the Beatles appeared there August 15, 1965, establishing the ballpark as a pinnacle venue for rock’s biggest names: The Who, The Police, The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen and others have all played Shea.

Chosen as the last rock act to play the venue, Billy Joel staged his “Last Play At Shea” concerts on July 16 and July 18, 2008, rocking a combined audience of 110,000 fans with one of the most emotionally charged shows ever played at the historic stadium. After 45 years, two New York Mets World Series victories, the arena debut of The Beatles and Billy Joel’s “The Last Play At Shea,” the final section of Shea Stadium was torn down in 2009.

A broadcast edition of Billy Joel – Live At Shea Stadium will premiere on PBS Great Performances in March.

Hollywood Dame Exclusive Interview – Kimberly Caldwell

“I’ve been a performer my entire life and everything I’ve done has led up to this moment,” says Kimberly Caldwell. With her girl-next-door looks and trendsetting style combined with a killer “can do anything” confidence, Kimberly Caldwell shows us All American Beauty is back and more inspiring than ever. Her new pop single, “Desperate Girls & Stupid Boys” from her debut album, ‘Without Regret,’ will be released in the Spring 2011.

Perhaps best known as a second season contestant on the television phenomenon ‘American Idol,’ Caldwell struck a chord with millions of the show’s viewers thanks to her gutsy vocals, passionate performances, and earthy charisma. On Without Regret, she wields her full-throttle belt to maximum effect on a series of emotionally rich, pop-inflected songs. The new single, “Desperate Girls & Stupid Boys” is one that particularly resonated with Caldwell. “One of my main philosophies is never apologize for who you are. I automatically connected with this song because life is so much brighter and easier when you stop trying so hard to fit in.”

Drive; meet me at the corner of hope and hopeless
Try to follow me I know a way out
It’s your life, so try not to get stuck in this crazy circus

“It’s important to surround yourself with the special people in your life who appreciate you for who you really are and always have your back,” added Caldwell.

Caldwell developed her fierce determination through a childhood that had its share of obstacles. Born in Katy, Texas, she describes herself as an attention-seeking kid who would climb on the coffee table, throw her hands in the air, and scream, “Look at me! I can do this!” “I’ve always wanted to be an entertainer,” she says. “I just wanted to perform for people.” That desire led to four years on the beauty pageant circuit, from ages 5 to age 9. “I loved the hair and makeup. I loved rehearsing,” she says. “My mom would have these extravagant outfits made, like red lamé with silver fringe and she would spray paint a silver cowboy hat and boots for me, the whole nine yards.”

A fan of country music and such artists as Reba McEntire, the Judds, and Randy Travis, Caldwell became obsessed with appearing on the television talent show ‘Star Search.’ She wound up winning the competition five times, the most wins for a junior vocalist on the original version. At age 12, she landed a gig as a featured performer on a singing revue called “Country Tonite,” which meant a family move to Branson, MO, where the show was located. Caldwell sang country favorites six days a week, performing two shows a day, “doing full-on numbers where the dancers picked me up and I’m wearing a headset,” she recalls. Her mother told her she could stop anytime, but she loved the experience and carried on for three years. Then at age 15, she decided she wanted to move back to Katy and “just be normal.” Around this time, her parents’ marriage fell apart, her relationship with her father deteriorated, and her mother struggled to support her and her younger sister. Caldwell coped by going through what she describes as a rebellious phase, but the absence of performing took a deep emotional toll on her. So when auditions for the second season of American Idol rolled through Texas, Caldwell decided to take her shot and rode the wave all the way to the Top 10.

The strength of her songs, plus her powerhouse voice, landed Caldwell a deal with Vanguard Records, part of the Welk Music Group. Shortly thereafter, Vanguard entered into a joint venture with EMI Music Group to release Without Regret through Vanguard/Capitol.

Recently, I had the chance to ask Kimberly about things such as her music, her goals, and who she’d love to work with. You can read about that below.

Do you find it easy to sing and perform? Does it come naturally for you?

It has always been second nature to me but I went through a few years were I lost my confidence which developed into stage fright. I knew I had to conquer that to go where I ultimately wanted to go. I realized that when I walk on that stage people aren’t waiting for me to mess up, they are just want to be entertained.

Besides music, what are some of your favorite things to do?

I love just being around my girls (mom, sisters, girlfriends) and my dogs and just hanging out and catching up. It’s good to get some genuine big laughter in my life. I also love antique/flea market shopping and running with my dog.

If you had the chance to work or record with anyone, who would you choose?

I love Steven Tyler and always have! I think a duet with him would be outrageous! I also would die to perform with Wynona Judd. She’s the real deal!

How would you describe the sound of your music?

The single is pop/rock but the album is quite eclectic. It has the big heartbreak ballads, songs that will get you off your feet, and soul filled power songs. It’s got a little something for everybody but I love that in this album we were really able to capture so many sides of me through the music. It’s very empowering.

How do you feel that you’re different from other artists in your genre?

I’m not very extravagant with my image. I am who I am off stage and on. I am not a character. I’m just out there doing me.

What are some of your short-term and long-term goals you have lined out for yourself?

Short-term, I hope to jump on a summer tour to continue to travel and sing with my band. Long-term, I hope to headline my own tour so I can travel and sing with my band! I also want to be an amazing mom like my mom has been for me.

What are your upcoming plans for promoting your music and album?

I’m currently on my radio tour traveling all over the nation playing live acoustic shows for the listeners. I have a show coming up, opening for my label-mates, Sick Puppies, so I’m very excited about that. On the road I Facebook and Twitter a lot to keep my fans up to date so hope to talk to you all soon!

Steven Tyler’s ‘American Idol’ Apology-VIDEO

Apparently, people are sensitive to the point where one can no longer play the Banana game with the name “Muck” anymore.

This is what happened with ‘American Idol’ judge Steven Tyler.

Last week, Tyler joked with an Idol hopeful, poking fun at the contestant whose last name is “Muck.” Insert middle school level joke here.

Because of this, several people complained to the Fox network that Tyler’s remarks were in poor taste thus making Fox release an apology for Tyler’s behavior.

Via THR:

“There’s a black card that starts the show tonight,” [Ryan] Seacrest said. “It starts with, ‘American Idol would like to apologize for last week’s outrageous behavior by Steven Tyler. Mr. Tyler has been warned and assures us it will never happen again.”

Amazingly, Fox did choose to air the footage in the first place leading us to believe that this is merely another way to drum up publicity for the show.

Jennifer Lopez Furious, Steven Tyler Stealing the ‘Idol’ Spotlight

You in danger gurl! Steven Tyler better check his shampoo for Nair and sleep with one eye open. Jennifer Lopez is reportedly feeling stabby because Tyler is ‘stealing the spotlight’ on American Idol.

Popeater reports that JLo is unhappy with the show and how the attention focuses on the Aerosmith legend and not her.

“This was meant to be Jennifer’s big comeback,” an insider complains. “The entire re-branding of the show was built around her, but now it’s all about Steven 24/7. She’s mystified at how this happened and has made it very clear to the producers that the cameras need to spend a little more time adoring Jennifer’s favorite idol — herself!”

I don’t watch this shiz since Paula packed up her Vicodin piñata and did the electric slide out the door. Simon was the show’s last hope, but he denied the world of his chest hairs sprouting over his v-neck tops. So I am curious as to how JLo is ‘mystified’ her high maintenance assets aren’t entreating. I am guessing that the formula: rock legend (who has an uncanny resemblance to my Aunt Tootie) > one dimensional trick with fake chinchilla eyelashes holds true. Mystery solved.

‘American Idol’ Judges Sit Down With Jay Leno – Video

American Idol judges Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, and Randy Jackson joined Jay Leno last night to talk about what they’re bringing to the show… which debuts a week from tomorrow, by the way!

Per Examiner:

The interview last night gave everyone a chance to see just how interactive the judges will be on the new show. Laughing, remarking and even giving each other a little verbal jab every now and then, there is no doubt the chemistry for the new judges appears to be perfect.

I do love the chemistry between the judges but I’m still unsure about the show this season with the many changes. What are your thoughts?

‘American Idol’ Makes More Changes

The judges won’t be the only thing different in the upcoming season of ‘American Idol‘ on Fox. In September, Idol announced that Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler signed on to fill two of the empty judge seats on the show. You would think the new Judges would be all the talk for the new season of American Idol, which kicks off January 12th on Fox, but there are bigger changes coming to this season – Call it a bit of a facelift or make over for it’s 10th season. According to executive producer Nigel Lythgoe, contestants will be faced with a series of new challenges. Think American Idol meets NBC’s ‘The Apprentice.’ Lythgoe wants to better prepare the contestants for the music industry and will be having them compete in weekly challenges. Contestants will see who can make the best music videos and promote themselves and a they will have a chance to work with a band and dancers for an awards show-style performance. Hmmmm! This could be interesting!

Per MTV:

The biggest tweak, however, has to do with the mechanics of the show — namely, the elimination of the round of 24 that shrinks the cast down to the final 12. “I didn’t think [the top 24] were very good, I was bored with them by the time they got there,” Lythgoe said. It was not specified, however, if the adjustment means that judges will pick the top 12 or what will replace the shows that formerly made up the early audience voting rounds.

To be honest with you, I’m sort of interested in this new Idol. Seeing contestants perform and then put their ability to survive the tough music industry seems like it could be pretty entertaining. So with all of the tweaks that they are making would you be more likely to watch the new season now? I may have to check it out.

New ‘American Idol’ Judges Revealed

In perhaps the worse kept secret in the history of Hollywood, Fox officially announced the new judges joining vet Randy Jackson for the 10th season of ‘American Idol.’

As reported weeks ago, singer/songwriters Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler (of Aerosmith) will join Jackson at the judges table while host Ryan Seacrest will continue to spray glitter onto the contestants as they float by him on stage.

Via Digital Spy:

“I’m looking for the next Michael Jackson,” said Lopez. “We’re looking for the best American Idol ever. I’m so excited, I really am!”

I wonder if Chris Brown plans on trying out?

Jennifer Lopez Idol Deal Worth $12 Million

Jennifer Lopez has reportedly clinched a $12 million deal to be a judge on “American Idol.” Lopez has been in negotiation with the show bosses about joining the panel following the departures of Simon Cowell, Ellen DeGeneres, and Kara DioGuardi. According to earlier reports, Lopez was asking for $15 million and also demanded for a film and TV show from the companies which produce American Idol – Fox, Fremantle, and 19 Entertainment. But those demands were turned down.

Per CBS News:

“She was angling for an overall deal at Fox, including a put picture, to keep the movie career going. But Fox said ‘no,’” an insider said. However, a source at Fox told TMZ Tuesday that these excessive demands are untrue and were produced by people who resent the show. The source also insisted that negotiations have been “normal” and are now a “done deal.”

UsMagazine cited anonymous insiders as saying that “Idol” contracts are currently being signed by Lopez, fellow newcomer Steven Tyler and Idol veteran judge Randy Jackson. Fox is said to have delayed the official announcement of the new judging panel because J-Lo wanted it to coincide with the release of her first single. Lopez recently signed on with record label Island Def Jam and is working on her first album with them called “Love?” According to Us, an official announcement is expected in early October, before auditions begin for the tenth season.

Kara DioGuardi Fired From ‘American Idol’, Steven Tyler In

The revolving door on the “American Idol” judges’ table may be starting to spin out of control. First Simon, then Ellen, and now Kara! Fresh off the heels of Thursday’s shocking news that Ellen DeGeneres would be leaving “Idol” after just one year (read about that here), TMZ reported later in the day that two-season veteran Kara DioGuardi had been fired from the show. No great loss there!

We’re told the show will be going back to a three-judge format and assuming all deals are finalized, the judge’s panel will consist of Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. We’re told the only way Kara could get a reprieve is if the J-Lo deal falls apart — but we’re told that deal is done.

Reps for Lopez and Tyler have not commented as of yet but Fox is expected to announce the makeup of the new “Idol” judges’ panel on Monday at the Television Critics Association event. Not quite sure the J-Lo and Steven Tyler addition is going to work. I’m still crossing my fingers for Jessica Simpson and Bret Michaels!

Steven Tyler Quits Aerosmith

steven-tyler-quits-aerosmith-3.jpg

There have been multiple rumors recently suggesting that Aerosmith’s frontman Steven Tyler had left the band. And according to guitarist Joe Perry, he is saying something along the same lines, confirming that Tyler is unlikely to perform with the band again.

Per People:

“Steven quit as far as I can tell. I don’t know any more than you do about it,” Perry told the Las Vegas Sun, adding that the singer “has had no contact with me or the other band members”.

Perry’s comments follow those of bandmate Brad Whitford, who last week said that Aerosmith were going to hold ‘crisis talks’ about their future as a band after their relationship with Tyler became strained. Reports say that Tyler told “Classic Rock” magazine, that his next project was unclear, but it would definitely be something “working on the brand myself, Steven Tyler.” Not quite sure what thats supposed to mean, but if Tyler’s appearance in the movie “Be Cool” is anything to go by it will be the very worst thing ever created by a human being in all of mankinds history… Perry claims that Tyler has been cold towards him and he hasn’t heard from him in months, explaining that Tyler has been avoiding the bands phone calls, but they have “learned to live with it.”

“Obviously, he hasn’t been giving 100 percent for a long time,” Perry said. “Frankly, the last few months I’ve been wanting not to rock the boat. I don’t want him cancelling any more gigs. We really wanted to do these last four. We didn’t want to call him out or get him pissed off, for whatever reason. So we just let things lie. I still care for him as a person, or at least the person I used to know,” he said. “But things change. We’ll probably find somebody else, and then we’ll be able to move Aerosmith up a notch.”

But that won’t really be Aerosmith, will it? Sure, it might sound like Sweet Emotion when the new line-up plays it, but if it’s not being wailed out by an old man who looks like a Janice Dickinson mannequin that’s been stitched together out of rejected doll parts and dances like a monkey jacked up on crown and coke, then it’s not going to fool anyone.
