Prince William and Kate Middleton are officially engaged. Prince Charles made the announcement confirming what has been rumored for months.
The eldest of the Princes asked Kate’s father’s permission before he proposed and then popped the question in Kenya. The wedding is being planned for the spring/summer of 2011. A prenup is also being crafted and Middleton is ditching her nickname Kate for the more formal Catherine. (For more details click HERE…)
William proposed with his mother’s engagement ring. Princess Diana picked out and wore it after her February engagement in 1981. The ring is an 18 carat sapphire oval cut stone surrounded by diamonds.
‘As you may have recognized, it’s my mother’s engagement ring, so of course it’s very special to me and Kate’s very special to me now as well, and it’s only right the two are put together.
‘It was my way of making sure my mother didn’t miss out on today, and the excitement and the fact that we’re going to spend the rest of our lives together. The timing is right now, we are both very, very happy.’

Naomi Campbell has gotten herself into a pickle. This time it doesn’t involving throwing cell phones at her minions or beating them with knockoffs. The glamazon managed to get herself into a war crime surrounding an exchange of blood diamonds.
Naomi is on trial and testifying before a war crimes tribunal. Prosecutors hoped she would provide evidence that former Liberian ruler Charles Taylor traded guns to neighboring Sierra Leone rebels in exchange for uncut diamonds (aka blood diamonds) during Sierra Leone’s 1992-2002 civil war.
She explained to the tribunal that she had gotten some “dirty-looking stones” from Taylor after a 1997 dinner party. She then gave the stones to a friend, Jeremy Ratcliffe, who was the director of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund. Her intent was for the diamonds to be used for charity. However, the precious stones never made it to the fund.
Via Huffington Post:
“The organization’s current spokesman, Oupa Ngwenya, says the fund did not receive the diamonds. Ngwenya said the fund was unable to locate Ratcliffe and he also could not be reached by phone. Ngwenya confirmed that Ratcliffe is no longer the fund’s chief executive but a trustee.
Campbell said she had called Ratcliffe a year ago to ask what he had done with the stones, and he told her he still had them.”
This is still in court and developing…
Everyone is going nuts over Michelle Obama’s sweater. The President’s wife met the Queen of England wearing a button down frumpy sweater. Michelle has gotten a lot criticism for wearing sleeveless looks and “looking like she constantly at a cocktail party.” I like her style, but her London visit wardrobe was a fail and a fry cry from her stunning entrance into the White House and lovely Vogue feature. See the Obama Vogue Feature by clicking HERE.
Then the First Lady wore another awful cardigan, by Junya Watanbe, that clashed blues with her dress. Her other choices were by J. Crew. J. Crew is never acceptable for a meeting-the-Queen-wear. She even missed a button on the Junya sweater and looks like a kindergartner who needs help. Someone needs to let her in on the secret that argyle and sequins are horrid combination.
That and when meeting the queen and foreign ambassadors it’s not wise to bust out the snakeskin pumps. Save it for Ladies Night at Camp David.
Note by The Dame: Thank you to those pointing out the Junya Watanbe sweater. However she DID wear J. Crew in some the photos show.
