The Spill Canvas – Our Song

Nick Thomas, the singer, guitarist, and mastermind behind “The Spill Canvas”, recorded his first songs at age 15 while growing up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and honed his largely acoustic-based style playing solo shows in and around his hometown. Calling himself The Spill Canvas, Thomas released the raw and emotive “Sunsets and Car Crashes,” which earned him eager fans around the country. After officially transitioning from solo act to full-fledged rock band, The Spill Canvas recorded their dynamic debut full-length, “One Fell Swoop,” with producer Ed Rose, releasing it on One Eleven in May of 2005 to great acclaim, eventually selling more than 50,000 copies. In 2006, The Spill Canvas signed to Sire Records, which released their major-label debut full-length “No Really, I’m Fine” in October 2007. Produced by Neal Avron, the album climbed to No. 2 on Billboard’s Heatseeker’s chart and spawned the single “All Over You.”

Over the years, the band have toured with Yellowcard, Motion City Soundtrack, Straylight Run, Mae, The Plain White T’s, Augustana, the Hush Sound, and One Republic, and have graced the stages of Austin’s annual music festival SXSW, New Jersey’s Bamboozle Festival and the Vans Warped Tour — earning them a growing loyal fanbase.

The Spill Canvas are currently in the studio with Mike Green working on the follow-up to “No Really, I’m Fine,” to be released by Reprise Records in 2010. On January 12th, they released “Abnormalities” — a three-song collection of new songs, which was followed by an EP in March. A day after the release of their latest EP, Realities, The Spill Canvas premiered their new music video for “Our Song” on MTV. The video is a witty spin on classic movies like Disney’s “Lady and the Tramp,” “Night of the Living Dead,” “Titanic,” and “Say Anything” to name a few, and should have fans old and new singing along to “Our Song” in no time. Realities, featuring “Our Song,” is available digitally now – grab the EP on iTunes and check out what else the band has to offer! A few limited edition bundles, featuring physical and digital copies of the album and a Realities logo t-shirt, are still available through the band’s official website.

For the ultimate Spill Canvas experience, make sure to see the band live and in concert. They will hit the road with Tyler Hilton, AM Taxi and The New Politics starting April 21st. Visit TheSpillCanvas.com for tour details and to purchase tickets, as well as for news and updates from the band.

Catherine Zeta-Jones Wants to be Susan Boyle

The overnight singing sensation Susan Boyle has found a new fan! Actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has apparently asked for the film rights to the singer’s life story and her sensational appearance on “Britain’s Got Talent“. According to reports, Zeta-Jones wants to play Boyle, popularly known as “Hairy Angel” because of her frizzy hair cut and bushy eyebrows, on screen. The actress was said to have contacted the producers of “Britain’s Got Talent” after Ms Boyle became a huge hit in the US.

Per Telegraph:

“This is one of many requests we have had to play her (Boyle), for movie deals and for stories of her life. All these people are coming out and want to be associated with her. She is the biggest thing in the world. It is mental,” a source on the show said of Zeta-Jones’ proposal.

Boyle has become a star in the US and UK after her performance of “I Dreamed A Dream” from “Les Miserables” on the popular show. The video of the Scottish singer’s performance became the most popular clip on “YouTube” of all time, even surpassing US President Barack Obama’s inaugural speech, with over 100 million hits. A spokesman for Ms Boyle said she was unwilling to comment. Reports also suggest that “Titanic” director James Cameron has also expressed interest in a similar project.

This would definitely be a different kind of role for Ms. Zeta-Jones, who is regularly voted one of the world’s most beautiful women in the world. But if Charlize Theron can add 30 pounds and hide all her beautiful features to play a serial killer, then I’m sure Catherine will have no problem pulling off a frumpy middle-aged woman.
