Tokio Hotel – World Behind My Wall

Tokio Hotel is a German band founded in Magdeburg, Germany in 2001 consisting identical brothers Bill and Tom Kaulitz, along with Gustav Schafer and Georg Listing. The four met after a live show in a Magdeburg club where Listing and Schafer, who knew each other from music school, watched from the audience while the Kaulitz brothers played on the stage. They formed a band and soon began playing in talent shows and small concerts under the name Devilish, being discovered by music producer Peter Hoffmann after Bill’s participation in a children’s Star Search in 2003. They then decided to change their name from Devilish to Tokio Hotel: “Tokio”, the German spelling of the Japanese city Tokyo, due to a love of the city, and “Hotel” due to their constant touring and living in hotels.

Its been quite the busy month for Tokio Hotel; Not only are they featured in the new Verizon Droid commercial their song “Human Connect To Human” (Check out the sci-fi themed spot here), but they also won the award for Best Group earlier this month at MTV’s European Music Awards where they also performed their new single “World Behind My Wall.” This guitar-charged ballad is their new, official focus track in the US and follows “Automatic” as the second single off of their latest album, “Humanoid.” Check out the song above then head on over to iTunes to pick up their latest album.

Backstreet Boys Brian Litrell Diagnosed With Swine Flu

The Backstreet Boys were forced to cancel a meet and greet in NYC after member Brian Littrell was diagnosed with the swine flu. A rep for the band told the press that the remaining boybanders – Nick Carter, Howie Dorough and AJ McLean – have all met with a doctor and so far are okay. The boys and their touring party, who had just returned to the states from Tokyo, have been prescribed Tamiflu as a preventive measure.

Per Backstreet Boys:

“We were really looking forward to spending time with our closest fans and friends in NYC and take part of PINKTOBER, an unbelievable and important program” Littrell says. “I hope we can come back soon and do everything we can to help.”

Littrell made a special YouTube message for his fans to break the news to them and to apologize that the band had to cancel their upcoming appearances. The sickness also forced the cancellation of the groups CBS Early Show performance this morning, where they were scheduled to perform their new single, “Straight Through My Heart.” The intimate performance at PC Richards has also been cancelled and rescheduled for a later date. The groups new album “This Is Us” drops today and they had a whole bunch in-store and TV appearances lined up to promote it. The rest of the promotional schedule for this week has not been determined.

Poor guy looks awful! Hope you feel better soon!

Robert Pattinson and Hugh Jackman Duet

Believe or not this one is true. No, the two aren’t cranking out a CD. They were doing karaoke.

So here is the story. Robert Pattinson was in Tokyo pimping “Twilight” while Hugh Jackman was there to do promos for the “Australia” premiere. While indulging in some free time, Hugh ran into Sparklepants at a bar (big surprise). They ended up doing karaoke along with the rest of the cast of the vampire saga.

Via E! News:

“Jackman’s rep confirms my exclusive Tokyo scoop. “Hugh was there celebrating completion of his promo tour for Australia with director Baz Luhrmann and friends and the fact that the film is just going over $200 million box-office worldwide!” the rep tells me. “About 1a.m., the cast of Twilight came in and they all joined in.”

Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart singing show tunes with Edward Cullen and Wolverine sounds like an acid trip. However, I would have paid cold hard cash to see Pattinson and Jackman in matching gold lame pants and singing “Love Shack.”
