Vampire Diaries: “Catch VD” Billboard Controversy PHOTOS

The CW really wants their viewers to tune in…or visit the free clinic.

The latest marketing technique used by the least watched network is this little beauty hovering along Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles and above the streets in Times Square.

According to the CW spokesperson, the signs simply means to watch the network’s hit show ‘The Vampire Diaries.’

Via Entertainment Weekly:

“VD simply stands for Vampire Diaries, and anyone who thinks otherwise should probably get themselves checked out.”

The ads, which were created to start hype around the show’s mid-season return January 27, will eventually be replaced with billboards featuring the show’s cast as well…once half the viewers begin regularly taking Valtrex.

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino Reveals His Book Cover

Now that the second season of “Jersey Shore” has come to an end, we can move on to some light reading – like Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino’s new book. Yes, he has a book coming out… Yes, that means he can actually read and write… or at least talk and have someone else doing the penning for him. Now The Situation is giving us a sneak peek at the cover for his new book. If you guessed he would be sporting a tuxedo, monocle and top hat while sitting near a fireplace with a glass of chardonnay – you were way off.

Per People:

The cover features, shockingly, a photo of a grinning Sorrentino flashing his famous abs.

Sorry, I think I just threw up a little bit in my mouth. Can this dude do ANYTHING without lifting his shirt? We’ve all seen nice abs before on lots of people… this is not something he discovered! “Here’s The Situation: A Guide to Creeping on Chicks, Avoiding Grenades, and Getting in Your GTL on the Jersey Shore” hits bookstores early next month and for those of you in the “Situation Nation” – this may not be the work of T.S. Eliot or Leo Tolstoy, but we’re sure it will be just as difficult to read.

A bargain basement book. It will be in the Clearance bins before we all know it.

Introducing Sunny Singer-Songwriter Alyssa Bernal

When multiplatinum artist and producer Pharrell Williams is so anxious to get in touch with someone that he contacts their high school to try and track them down, you know that there is something special happening. When that happened to singer-songwriter and YouTube sensation Alyssa Bernal, the teenager was shocked. “They didn’t know who Pharrell was! They just thought it was some shady guy trying to get a hold of me,” laughs Alyssa. Her mother finally spotted his MySpace message and 24 hours later, she and Alyssa were on a plane from their home in San Antonio, TX to meet Pharrell and Interscope Records Chairman Jimmy Iovine in Los Angeles. “Finding a new talent like Alyssa is so exciting to me,” says Pharrell. “There are a lot of young singers out there who can carry a tune, but Alyssa is the real deal. She is a true musician with an incredible voice.”

Once signed to Star Trak, Alyssa met with her dream producer, Martin Terefe (Jason Mraz, Train). Terefe’s schedule was fully booked for the next few months, but after an hour-long meeting with the young singer, he agreed to work with her – starting immediately. Alyssa and her mother moved to London for seven weeks to record her debut album, “In Love Again For The First Time.” Terefe helped develop Alyssa’s naturally sunny sound, enlivening her pop sensibility with notes of funk and soul. First single “Cali Cali Cali” is available on iTunes now, and is the perfect example of Alyssa’s sunny yet substantive style. Visit AlyssaBernal.com to watch her DIY video of the track and stay tuned to the site for updates on her debut!

New Music Friday – Plumb

In her early years in the public eye, after she had moved from Atlanta to Nashville and launched her career with a self-titled debut album in 1997, Plumb occupied a distinctive niche: an artist whose passions communicated powerfully whether set to pulsing electronic beats, guitar-driven alternative rock or sweeping orchestral accompaniment. Her music has been featured in numerous movie soundtracks such as “Brokedown Palace,” “Bruce Almighty,” “Just Married,” “Drive Me Crazy” and many other high-profile films, or on TV shows ranging from “Dawson’s Creek,” “Felicity,” “Roswell” and “ER” to commercials, made for TV films or on top of the Billboard dance charts with “In My Arms” in 2007. Whether drawn by her sound or her sometimes enigmatic image, those who have discovered Plumb tend to develop a deeper identity over time. She sang from the heart about subjects as sensitive as sexual abuse (“Damaged”) and self-injury (“Cut”) – subjects seldom visited beyond the pages of private journals, transformed through music into expressions of love and promises of hope.

For fans of the CW show “Vampire Diaries,” they will recognize the song “Cut” which was played during the pivotal story-line changing scene where the characters of Stefan and Elena declare their love for one another and finally become intimate, a moment which had fans hanging on by the edge of their seats. You can watch the video and listen to the song above.

Jackson Rathbone 100 Monkeys Performance-Video and Photos

Those ‘Twilight’ kids sure do spend a lot of time together. WTF? Are they trying to replace the Brat Pack? Sorry, Nikki Reed will never come close to Molly Ringwald, or even Ally Sheedy.

So here they are, in Vancouver last night at a 100 Monkeys show. In case you aren’t female or in case you don’t live within a 100 mile radius of one, Jackson Rathbone (aka Jasper Hale/Cullen) is the lead guitarist and singer of the band.

Nearly the entire cast came out to listen to Rathbone and his band including everyone’s favorite ‘we’re not a lesbian couple’ couple, Nikki Reed and Kristen Stewart. They can be seen in the video in the front row. At first, I was pretty sure Nikki was having a seizure, turns out that is what she calls dancing. Feel the beat, girl! I have been to many a ‘White Girl Dance Party’ myself. KStew was more subdued and opted for taking pictures of Rathbone as he played. FYI, the paps have way better cameras than that. You should really just invest in some of those pictures.

Others in attendance were Taylor Lautner (anyone else wondering how the 17 year-old got in?), Peter Facinelli, Kellen Lutz, and Ashley Greene who apparently spent her time there playing touch my hynie with Lost’s Ian Somerhalder. Oh! Me likes! It’s like my two favorite things in the world are merging: ‘Lost’ and the ‘Twilight Saga’. Somerhalder is in Vancouver shooting the new series ‘The Vampire Diaries’. I guess fictitious vampires dig Canada, eh?

Notably absent was Robert Pattinson. I don’t think he’s so much the dancing/pose for pictures in a crowded bar full of Twi-hards type.

What do we think of Rathbone’s singing and playing? He’s pretty decent, though the audio is poor. When you’re that pretty, it really doesn’t matter though, does it?
