Zsa Zsa Gabor Losing Her Leg

2011 is not starting off with rainbows and butterflies. In really sad news, Zsa Zsa Gabor might lose her leg.

Prince von Anhalt has told TMZ that Gabor is at UCLA Medical Center after a blood clot is threatening her life. She was advised to have a surgery done to remove the clot before Christmas, but Zsa Zsa refused to go so she could spend her last holiday at home with family. Now the damage is done and at least half of her leg will be amputated.

This is terrible news. She has been schooling us on how to take a bubble bath while wearing diamond tiaras for 93 years, went through 9 husbands and slapped a police officer all while making a living on simply being fabulous.

Zsa Zsa Gabor Rushed Back to the Hospital

Hollywood Dame has learned that legend Zsa Zsa Gabor has been rushed back to the hospital.

We reported to you a few weeks ago that Gabor suffered difficulties after falling and breaking her hip in July. Though the injury was not threatening, she later needed surgery to remove several blood clots and has not fared well since (Read about Zsa Zsa receiving her last rites HERE).

TMZ is reporting that Gabor was rushed back to UCLA Medical Center this afternoon.

“Zsa Zsa’s husband, Prince Frederic von Anhalt, tells TMZ, ‘I just called an ambulance. She has to go back to UCLA.’ The Prince says the 93-year-old Zsa Zsa was unresponsive and clearly in distress. An ambulance is on the scene after 911 was called. “

Hopefully the stars will align to save our beacon to socialite class.

Prince Frederic von Anhalt Bedridden After Blacking Out

Zsa Zsa Gabor’s husband Prince Frederic von Anhalt is now facing his own health set-back and is currently bedridden along with her after he blacked out and was found to be suffering from exhaustion while caring for his ailing wife. Prince Frederic von Anhalt has been caring for his wife since she returned home from hospital on Monday following surgery over the weekend to remove two blood clots (read about that here.)

Per Daily News:

Frederic Prinz von Anhalt, 67, has been getting only a few hours of sleep a night since his wife fell out of bed and broke her hip July 17, and Gabor’s home nurse reported that von Anhalt collapsed Wednesday night, said publicist John Blanchette. He felt dizzy, blacked out and fell, bruising his shoulder, according to Blanchette, who said doctors told von Anhalt he was suffering from exhaustion and ordered bed rest at home.

“They’re both bedridden now,” Blanchette said. “He’s not taking any calls.”

Meanwhile, Gabor continues to show signs of improvement, days after she sparked fears she was on her deathbed when a priest was called to read her Last Rites before she fell into unconsciousness on Monday. Her spokesperson says she is “still bed ridden but is eating a little, talking a little and sleeping a lot.” She is due to return to the hospital in about a week for an examination.

Zsa Zsa Gabor To Spend Final Days At Home

Zsa Zsa Gabor has decided to spend her final days at her Bel Air home after declining to undergo any more surgery, her publicist said on Monday. Gabor was given the last rites by a priest (read about that here) in hospital over the weekend after undergoing a series of setbacks following hip replacement surgery a month ago. Doctors wanted to perform surgery on her liver that would give her a 50-50 chance survival rate, but she decided to go home instead.

Per CNN:

“The doctors did everything they could do,” her husband, Prince Frederic Von Anhalt, said. “The rest is up to her to whether she recovers or not.”

Gabor was released from hospital last week but was taken back on Friday to treat two blood clots. She left a Los Angeles hospital on Monday and returned home in an ambulance. Gabor broke her hip on July 17 when she fell out of bed while watching the television game show “Jeopardy.” She has been frail and “pretty much confined to a wheelchair” since a 2002 car accident when the car in which she was riding in with her hairdresser crashed into a light pole.

How sad. I know she will be more comfortable and at peace in her own home. Hopefully she will regain her strength and recover, but if not she will go out gracefully like the classy lady she is.
